Three ways from Shuangliu into the city

From Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) you have three ways into town: Metro Line 10, Night Bus 1 (Airport–Chunxi Road) and taxi or ride-hailing. While the metro is running, take Line 10; after it closes, look at Night Bus 1 or a taxi.

Chengdu also has a second airport, Tianfu International (TFU). This post covers Shuangliu (CTU), so first check which airport is on your ticket.

Metro Line 10: straight to Wuhou Shrine station

Board Line 10 at Exit 04 on the T1 arrivals level (1F) or on level B2 at T2. The city-bound terminus is Wuhou Shrine station, right by Wuhou Shrine and Jinli, and you can change to other lines for the rest of the city.

The last city-bound train from T1 leaves at 23:15. Check the official information for journey time and fares. Every Chengdu metro station has bag checks, so allow extra time; a transit QR code in a mobile payment app makes riding easy.

Night Bus 1: after the metro closes

Night Bus 1 links the airport with Chunxi Road in the city center after the metro closes. It leaves the airport 21:00-04:30 every 40-70 minutes and costs about 2 CNY.

Board about 60 m south of Exit 6 on T1 arrivals, or at Platform 4 outside Exit 15 on T2 arrivals. With 40-70 minutes between buses you may have a wait, so leave some slack.

Taxi or ride-hailing: heavy luggage or a late arrival

Taxi ranks are about 50 m south of Gate 6 on T1 arrivals and by the pedestrian crossing on T2 arrivals. Taxis are metered; check the official information for fares. Journey time depends on traffic.

Ride-hailing apps are also widely used. This option is handy with heavy luggage or a late arrival; have your hotel address in Chinese to show the driver.

By hotel area

Here are the main areas from our Chengdu guide and how they relate to the airport. For changing from Line 10 to other lines, check the official metro map.

Check your ticket, plus an arrival checklist

Because Chengdu has two airports, check whether your ticket says Shuangliu (CTU) or Tianfu (TFU). Metro Line 19 links the two. For getting from Tianfu (TFU) into the city, check the official information.

Some foreign apps and services may be restricted in China. To find your way as soon as you land, get set up before you go.
