Krabi Airport (KBV): two ways to your hotel
From Krabi International Airport (KBV) to your hotel, you have two options: the airport shuttle bus, and a taxi or ride-hailing app. Shuttle buses run to Ao Nang beach and Krabi Town, while the airport taxi counter or a ride-hailing app takes you door to door.
This post covers times and fares for both, what changes depending on where you stay, getting around once you arrive and an arrival-day checklist. Check shuttle bus times at the airport information desk and the fare at the airport counter.
Airport shuttle bus: to Ao Nang beach and Krabi Town
Airport shuttle buses run from Krabi International Airport to Ao Nang beach and Krabi Town. The ride to Ao Nang takes about 40 min-1 hour.
Check times at the airport information desk and the fare at the airport counter. Check the official information before you go for the travel time to Krabi Town and where to get off.
Taxi or ride-hailing: door to door
The airport taxi counter or a ride-hailing app takes you right to your hotel. It takes about 30-40 min to Ao Nang and costs about THB 500-800.
This is the handy choice with lots of luggage or a late-night arrival. Ride-hailing apps set the fare in advance, so you know the price before you ride.
Where to stay: it shapes your ride from the airport
Ao Nang is the easiest base: restaurants and tour counters line the beach and boats leave nearby. Both the airport shuttle bus (about 40 min-1 hour) and a taxi or ride-hailing app (about 30-40 min) go to Ao Nang beach.
Krabi Town is a small riverside town, cheaper, with a weekend night market. The airport shuttle bus goes there too. The beaches are about 30 minutes away by car, though, so factor that in if you plan to head to the sea often.
Klong Muang & Tub Kaek are peaceful beaches north of Ao Nang, suited to resort stays and families. The airport taxi counter or a ride-hailing app will take you to your hotel, but check the official information before you go for the time and fare to this area.

Railay and getting around: longtail boats and songthaews
Railay has no road access and is reachable only by boat. Longtail boat tickets are sold at the Ao Nang beach counter. Boats leave when full and don't run in rough seas. If you stay in Railay, you'll carry your luggage on and off the boat, and since boats board from the beach your feet will get wet, so water sandals and a dry bag help.
Cheap songthaews (shared trucks) run between Ao Nang, Krabi Town and Noppharat Thara beach; confirm the destination and fare before boarding. In the evening or for longer trips, a ride-hailing app with a fare set in advance is handy.
Scooter rental is popular, but accidents are common. Check you hold a licence valid in Thailand and what your travel insurance covers, and always wear a helmet.
