Airport to your hotel: three ways
Saipan International Airport (SPN) is in the south of the island. There is almost no public transport on Saipan, so from the airport you choose between a hotel pickup, a taxi and a rental car. To Garapan it is about 20-30 minutes by hotel pickup or taxi, and about 20 minutes by rental car.
None of the three has a fixed price: pickups are included or paid depending on the hotel, taxi fares vary by company, and rental prices vary by car type and company. So this post focuses on what to confirm, and when.
Saipan is still recovering from Super Typhoon Sinlaku (April 2026). Before you go, check flight schedules and whether your hotel, tours and sights are operating.
Hotel pickup: arrange it when you book
Many resorts offer airport pickups. Some include it in the price and some charge for it, so check when booking. It takes about 20-30 minutes to Garapan.
With a pickup there is no fare to sort out on arrival. If you are staying outside Garapan, ask about the travel time when you book the pickup too.

Taxi: confirm the fare first
Taxis are outside the terminal. Fares vary by company, so confirm the fare to your destination before you get in. It takes about 20-30 minutes to Garapan.
During your stay, taxis are also handy for short trips between Garapan and the resorts. The same rule applies: confirm the fare before you ride.

Rental car: if you want to explore the island
If you plan to explore the island freely, renting a car at the airport is easiest. With almost no public transport, a car is the easiest way around, and traffic drives on the right. It takes about 20 minutes to Garapan.
Prices vary by car type and company, so check when booking. Check driving requirements (licence etc.) with the rental company and official information. Do not leave bags or valuables visible in the car.
