Gaoqi Airport (XMN) has two terminals, T3 and T4
Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) has two terminals, T3 and T4. There are four ways into the city: the airport express buses, BRT, city buses and taxis.
Our guide lists the travel time and fare for all four as "check official info". So this post does not give times or fares; it covers where to board and which direction each option goes.
A new airport, Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport, is being built on Dadeng Island in Xiang'an district. Check whether your ticket shows Gaoqi (T3/T4).
Airport express buses: find the ticket counter first
Airport express bus ticket counters are opposite Door 9 in the T3 arrivals hall and at Door 7 and opposite Door 3 in the T4 arrivals hall. They are open 05:30–23:00 (times as posted at the counter).
Lines run towards the Ferry Terminal and towards Wucun Bus Station (the former island railway station). Lines to Jinjiang and Zhangzhou leave from the west side of the domestic arrivals hall.
Lines are subject to on-site dispatch. For questions, call the hotline 0592-5708275.
BRT and city buses: stops and line numbers
BRT lines Kuai 1 and Kuai 2 stop at Gaoqi T4 Terminal station, a short walk from T4. For T3, the guide describes changing at BRT Xianhou station to bus L19 and getting off at Gaoqi T3 Terminal.
City buses also serve the airport. For example, from Kaihe Road Junction stop near the Ferry Terminal, the Airport Line and bus 84 go to the T3 and T4 stops, and bus 27 to the T3 stop.
The guide describes these BRT and bus routes in the airport-bound direction. For the stop and direction into the city, and for real-time information, check with Xiamen Bus Group (0592-968828). Xiamen also has a metro; check the operator's official information for routes and fares.
Taxis: where the ranks are, and keep the receipt
Queue at the taxi rank by automatic Door 7 in the T3 arrivals hall or Door 3 in the T4 arrivals hall. Taxis are metered; check official information for fares.
Taxis to Quanzhou, Shishi and Zhangzhou leave from the west car park, about 120 m west of the T3 domestic arrivals hall.
Use licensed vehicles and keep your receipt. Showing your destination in Chinese helps. There is a 24-hour complaints line: 0592-5615610.
Heading towards the Ferry Terminal and on to Gulangyu
Gulangyu is an island south-west of Xiamen Island across the 600 m-wide Lujiang Strait, about 5 minutes by ferry. Sunlight Rock, Shuzhuang Garden, the Piano Museum and the Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall are all there.
One airport express bus line runs towards the Ferry Terminal. The night Gulangyu ferry runs from Hall 2 of the Xiamen Ferry Terminal to Sanqiutian Pier, 17:50–23:45 (from 18:50 in June to September). Daytime visitor routes leave from Dongdu Passenger Terminal and other piers; Dongdu–Sanqiutian sailings run 7:10–17:30 (until 18:30 from June to September).
From 12 October 2026, the approach bridge at the Xiamen Ferry Terminal is being rebuilt for about 40 days, so walking routes change. Work may run longer in bad weather; follow the signs and staff on site. Ferry tickets are sold under your real name, so bring your passport.
