When to go

July to September is beach season (beach swimming services run 1 July to 30 September every year). Weihai is described as having a maritime climate: cool springs, cool summers, warm autumns and mild winters. Clear autumn days are good for coastal drives, walks and seafood, and winter brings whooper swans and hot springs. It is often windy and fairly humid. Expect crowds around National Day (1 October), and in summer typhoons can stop boats to the islands and close coastal walkways.
